Every new disposal I've installed comes with the appropriate adapter, it's a three minute job to swap them out, not worth the time or effort it would take to figure out whether the old one will work. Just use the new adapter and don't worry about saving the old one, you'll have a much wider choice of units as well. I'd want to refresh the plumbers putty in there anyway even if re-using the flange, on the chance that is messing with the disposal I'd opened up a leak in the crumbly old stuff.
