Leaky kitchen faucet, Moen single handle pullout

We recently moved into our house and noticed the kitchen faucet was dripping down below when we would run the water. The faucet has a new cartridge installed. I took apart as much as I could. What I am left with is the assembly where the hot and cold come together through the cartridge and exit through a single line. This area is rusty and looks like the leak is originating from here. I notice that when I pull up the cartridge to turn the water on, water sprays out through the larger hole in the side (see photo). Some water will also come through the smaller hole in the back, particularly when I pull out the faucet. Question: should water be coming out of the hole in the side of that assembly? and is that assembly something generic that I can get at home depot, or is it specific to my Moen model?
