Iron in well water

Not sure if this is the forum section I should be posting in, please let me know if it is not.

We just moved into a new home and the well was completed at the end of February. The builder put in a softener system. After moving in I noticed the kids bath water was brownish before they even got in. So, I called the builder and he had the water treatment company come out to flush water heater. Long story short they didn't flush the water heater because he tested the water and found ferric iron in it (3ppm ferric, 1ppm ferrous, and 0 pH). Said even if he flushed it we'd still get brown water eventually. He recommended a neutralizer in addition to a 24/7 twin tank unit so that we never had to worry about the ferric iron slipping through during regeneration.

I did have 2 other companies come out for "2nd opinions." One recommended a neutralizer as well, and one said all we needed was an in-line filter for much less than the neutralizer costs.

I really have no clue...Any suggestions?
