water volume

Could someone please give me the basics of water volume or water pressure in a house that uses well water. We have a vacation house with a water pump that seems to give us inconsistent amounts of water. Sometimes when I turn on the tap, the water is trickling out of the faucet. Other times it comes out with full force. I always noticed this variation, but lately it seems more pronounced. i.e. when water is at low volume there's almost nothing coming out of the tap.

Pump pressure-trols are usually adjustable. Go out to the well pressure tank and watch the pressure gauge. They will sometimes be set to low at 20# on/40# off. Some 30/50. I run mine at 40/60. You may also have some obstructions in your piping.
