natural gas lines

I live in a town home that has a natural gas fireplace sitting adjacent to an outside wall. I had a plumber tap that line and run the natural gas outside for a grill. Unfortunately the placement of the outside valve doesn't let me put my grill in a great spot. My grill (which is fitted for natural gas) came with a hose but it's too short - I'd like to buy a longer one but all I can find are 10 footers. The hose has a male quick connect on one side, which is connected to the supply via an adapter. The other side of the hose is 3/8 female flared and connects directly to the grill.

I'm also game to connect two 10' hoses together, but I'm unable to find a coupler. The only one I can find claims to match the sizes but it turns out that the is spec is for high pressure water connections and the neither the quick connect nor the male threading fits natural gas hoses.

Is there some kind of regulation which forces hose designs to run 10' max?
