water softener control head bypass vs 3-valve bypass

Hi,

I have read many times that 3-valve bypass is a must when installing a water softener (in case of service needs). However, say for the Fleck heads, there is already a matching bypass valve.

- why is this 'inline' bypass valve not good enough?
- so do I need to install both the 'inline' bypass valve and the 3-valve bypass?
