They are a living finish. You shouldn't use harsh chemicals on them. But, they will also have "shiny" spots from ordinary use by design at the wear points like handles. It's intentional. If you do not care for that, then you should replace them with faucets that have a lifetime clear coat on them so they won't change over time.
