Water heater won't ignite

I have a 6-year-old State Select Powervent pilotless water heater that is balky about igniting. It fires OK when I turn it off and on, but it sometimes won't ignite on its own. Is this an ignition module or ignitor plate problem I could fix myself? I'm familiar with mechanical repairs in general, just not water heaters. Thanks.

It could be the igniter, ignition module, pressure switch (that proves fan), the fan, venting issues, condensate drain issues, line voltage polarity issues, ground issues.....

No easy answer without a tech there to diagnose, sorry
