Sump pump check valve

Twice now I've been involved with two situations where one of the rubber fittings on the check valve let go and resulted in basement flood. In one case, the flooding was catastrophic.

Does it make sense to replace check valves with ones that are glued in?

Are you talking about Fernco type connections? They shouldn't pop off easily.
Can you post a pic?

Yes, a Fernco type fitting, although I don't know it was actually that brand. Typical sump pump check valve that could be purchased almost anywhere. 1 1/2" PVC pipe. Correct fitting for the pipe size.

Post event, it seemed to me that the fitting was a bit "old" and not as pliable as a new one.

Sorry, no pictures.
