should I manually regenerate softener?

Our Kinetico softener has stopped regenerating, but sounds normal if I set it manually.

I've made sure the salt is loose down to the bottom of tank.

Is it a good idea to run it manually once or twice a day, while we wait (about 2 weeks) until the repair person can come?
