Can I wrap dryer vent with fabric?

Posted by ilene-84 (My Page) on

I'm trying to fix up my laundry/mud room and would like to wrap the dryer vent (it's metal) with material. Is this safe? Vent goes thru mudroom ceiling into the garage and eventually out the side of the house. If this isn't safe, is there a safe way of making ugly visible dryer vent look better?

If it's not a flexible metal, it's probably galvanized, so, wipe it with vinegar, prime with a galv. primer and paint to match the wall.

Snoonyb thanks for replying. I didn't wrap with fabric was scared it could catch on fire.

Absolutely correct. Fabric would have been dangerous.
