| I know nothing about plumbing but this doesn't sound right. My daughter is about to purchase a home, however, the the washer is connected to the sink drain. This sounds so unclean. Has anyone else seen this? I told her to see if the previous owner could put a separate drain in for the washer. I can't phantom the washer water going down the sink drain, sounds disgusting to me. |

| A washing machine is required to discharge into an approved "indirect Waste Receptacle". The "Indirect Waste Receptacle" can either be an approved Washing machine standpipe or it can be a sink. If the washer is connected to the sink drain pipe it is not code compliant, however, if the washer is discharging into the sink then it is fully code compliant. |
