 o
Height of Rough-in for Kitchen Sink Drain

I've searched through the forums here and elsewhere and have been unable to find a definitive answer as to what height above finished floor the kitchen sink drain sould be roughed-in at.

I've seen flat out statements saying 18" AFF.

Others have said 18" is usual, but if you putting in a deep sink and a disposal maybe a couple of inches lower.

Still others have said "many plumbers put them too high, lower is better".

and recently while trying to help my sister who's sink had the drain rough-in slightly higher than the disposal, I seem to recall seeing statements asserting 12" to 14" was the correct height.

I currently have the drain roughed-in at 16" AFF but it will be very easy to lower it at this stage (Wall still open, no cabinets in) but soon it will be very difficult to change.

Help.

-Bob
