Water Softener install recommendation - Berks County

I was hoping that someone could assist with a recommendation for a local contractor/system for a water softener replacement. This property was a former rental and had an old system that was disconnected about 8 years ago.

Not sure if posting a specific contractor or company name is considered "advertising" and if it is, maybe a direct recommendation can be sent via email? Looking for someone who has actually used them...not someone looking for work.

I have seen some of the prior postings regarding using Name Brand (Culligan, etc..) or proprietary systems vs a local independant company using better grade equipment.

I am simply looking for a quality system and a quality install at a fair price.

I googled a few local service companies and could not identify what equipment they use except for one using Master equipment (Pottstown Co).

I am waiting on one estimate and would like to obtain at least one more. Any help offered is appreciated.

We should determine what you need to treat your water...

Well or water system?

Need to know the water conditions.... hardness, iron, manganese, TDS, PH, and bacteria and nitrates if well water.

# of bathrooms and # of people in the home?

Any high water use appliances like a Jacuzzi?

With that info we can determine the correct size softener you need then we'll help you go shopping.

- Well

- Just noticed the guy who tested only left me a copy of the Volatiles and not the standard 9 point test results. I just requested and will post. I have a UV light on the service line, so "should" be no bacteria. Bulb was replaced when I moved in (and annually before that).

# of bathrooms and # of people in the home?
- 3 BR, 2 baths and currently 2 adults in home. (this was a rental property before a divorce landed me here temporarily. Will become a rental again in the future and likely family size would be 2-4 people).

Any high water use appliances like a Jacuzzi?
- nope, standard appliances - Washer, DW

A second contractor is coming on Friday and he said he uses Clack and Autotrol equip, when I asked. Family owned local water treatment/well company.

With a UV light installed you have bacteria. Would be prudent to test annually to be safe.

Post the test results and we'll go from there.
