Opionions on Studer vents / AAV / Air Admittance Valves

Considering having my plumber use Studer vents but am concerned about the "gurgling" noise I keep hearing others complain about. Curious if this noise is guaranteed if I go with an AAV, or if it only occurs in some installations. Any advice?

FYI _ The reason I want to use an AAV is because we have livable attic space above that I do not want the venting to be running through. It has masonry walls so nowhere to hide it.

We hear no noise from ours. The vent is behind a grille that insures that it is not blocked from the room air. Suppose that your choice boils down to occasional and brief noise or the constant view of a pipe on the wall. Which do you choose?

"v..."

Make sure Studor vents (AAVs) are allowed under your plumbing code.

Some codes restrict them to a single one per house.

bus_driver - Good to know. I choose occasional noise!

brickeyee - Plumber is looking into code, thanks for pointing that out.

We are thinking about using this for our island as well. Is there any sewer smell when it pops open? I can handle a little noise. I cannot handle sewer smell!!

"Is there any sewer smell when it pops open? I can handle a little noise. I cannot handle sewer smell!!"

They are designed to only allow air to go into the line, not out.

Thanks, Brickeyee. I actually did some research online after I posted and realized they would not allow gas to escape. This will be the perfect solution for me.
