Bathroom Remodel

Posted by aboattime (My Page) on

I am getting read to completely remodel second bath. New, tub, faucets, vanity and toilet. I am also going to change the plumbing pipe. I currently have Polybutylene (gray pipe) I am going to pipe everything back to the wall in my laundry room so in the future if the house as to be re piped it is accessible without having to open the walls. I have a couple of questions, 1. Any recommendations on toilets? 2. Are there any "rules" as far as plumbing pipe goes? I am going to be using CPVC.

Toto is best. I've had a Drake for 2 years and it's great. Would not buy anything else.

For current powder room remodel I just picked Drake II EL ADA G which is comfort ht, elongated bowl, double cyclone flush, sanagloss coating, Eco 1.28 gpf. Tests to flush 800 grams, 500 is more then enough. Orig Drake did 900 using 1.6 gpf. About $520 list, maybe $350 discounted, and worth it.

Toto makes a lot of models. See TerryLove . com for best toilet talk. Beware that some people describe some things, in detail, you wish you didn't visualize.

Plumbing codes are local and tend to be union controlled to keep employment up. E.g. I think City of CHicago requires drain pipe to be cast iron. Check with city to see if you can use CPVC. You may need a permit.
