Raise pH of R.O. drinking water?

Our R.O. system makes drinking water with a pH of 5.7. I'd like to get it closer to 7.0 for health reasons (although I know the common understanding is that it makes no difference to health, I am still concerned). When I add over twice the recommended amount of ConcenTrace trace mineral drops to the water, I can get it up to 6.8, but the I get digestive upset when I drink the water.

Is there a way to fix this problem short of buying a soda ash/sodium hydroxide injection system and adding it to the system? One person suggested bypassing the softener with the drinking water and just running unsoftened water through the RO. But I thought it was the RO that made the water acidic, not the softener . . . ?

This system starts with hard well water with a pH of 7.3, which then goes through a sediment filter, a water softener and then the drinking water continues through the RO system. It is Kinetico.

I know there are some water experts out there . . . anyone want to take a shot at this problem??
