Correcting a shower pan

We're in the final stages of a diy bathroom replacement. A plumber built a mud shower pan for us, which I'm about to start tiling. However, i'm now noticing that the drain protrudes about a half inch too high for my tile, and the slope of the pan appears off -- the low point not exactly at the drain.

Plumber won't return calls now and I'm trying to figure out the best course of action. Can I apply more mud on top of the existing surface to correct the slope and height?

Thank you for any advice here.
