emergency water valve does not close

Hi,

The emergency water valve (there are actually two near each other;splits from some sprinkler valves) going into my home do not close all the way. When I close either of these two, the water flow does not stop.
My concern is that I've had low water pressure during the 8 yrs that I've owned the home and I'm wondering if replacing these emergency valves would help any.

If the sprinkler valves work properly, probably not.
I would replace the shut-off valves, though, as they are more than just helpful when doing repairs on the household plumbing.
The current valves are prbably gate valves. I'd replace them with fully ported 1/4 turn ball valves.

Agree. Replace them with full flow ball valves.
