Choosing a toilet

With the toilet (18 years old) in one bathroom giving us problems, we have had a plumber out several times looking for obvious problems. No such luck, the last one suggested that we probably need a new toilet as the "jet"s(?) are probably clogged. The toilet flushes correctly only half the time. I thought buying would be simple task, but it is even more confusing. I would appreciate recommendations for two piece toilets with what the plumber calls power flush, or keep clean flush. Where do I start? We are looking for mid grade pricing (will be moving in the spring)

The jets are holes under the rim of the bowl. They can become clogged, or partialy clogged, over time with lime and/or calcium. A drill bit can be used to break up the deposits and improve the flushing efficiency. Also check the larger (3/4") jet at the bottom of the bowl.

If checking and possibly clearing the holes under the rim doesn't fix it and you need a new toilet, what price range do you consider to be "midgrade"?

Toto Drake II--2 piece in the mid-300s or less many places. That is what we chose.
