Decreased water temp

We have an oil fired boiler. In the past few months, we have noticed a significant drop in water temp (we're getting sick of cold to lukewarm showers). The water pressure has stayed the same. We have adjusted the mixing valve and gotten nothing. Furnace is original, house was built in 96 so it is 18 years old. We live in very rural NH. Hate to call someone in blindly. Seeings mixed opinions on having coils flushed (we have not done that) and haven't had the furnace cleaned in a couple years (it only runs for hot water, we don't use oil heat so we don't have it cleaned as often). Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Assuming the boiler is firing as it should, you have buildup either on the fire side or on the water side (or both). Clean the coils.

Thanks for your response. The only other piece I failed to add was that: when the shower is running, you can hear the water pump kick on and the water temp gets slightly higher. This continues every time the pump kicks on, the temp gets slightly higher, so after having the water running for prob a half an hour, you ay have warm water.

In that case, it sounds like you have a faulty temperature controller or switch.
