Appreciate your input....but not sure what about my question would lead you to infer what you did. Regardless, while I appreciate the input...I'd appreciate advise on the question I asked and not whether or not I should use a professional.

Sorry it's the advice you did not seek. If you do have experience to do this, my apologies. Nothing personal, but I see nothing in the post that indicates knowledge to safely run that line. Folks like to say "But it's my home and I'll be the one to decide..etc." Unfortunately, that doesn't protect others, subsequent owners, or even contractors that might have to work on it later, etc.

You might consult the building code to get specific answers to your questions, some which you might not have even thought to ask.

again.....I understand what is allowed per the building code...asking what the forums thoughts are on the best material to use for buried gas lines.

You might take a look at garage journal (dot com) and use the search button for direct burial gas. Several threads on the topic.

I'd suggest getting a few more qoutes from licensed gas contactors. $800 sounds a bit high to me.

I'll suggest that from a liability stand point you should use only certified gas contractor. If there is a fire, your homeowner's insurance my not cover it.
