I am planing to install a tankless water heater using direct vent ( which includes make-up air) to an outside wall. I have a high efficiency furnace with a direct vent. Is there a specific distance I need to maintain between these vents?

In US it's 3' if air inlet is mechanical or 4' if it's not. If you stay 4' away you would be fine.

Here is a link that might be useful: See page 12 of install manual.

jakethewonderdog has no idea what he is talking about and the link he provided is no help at all and needs to be entirely discounted.

The ONLY distance that matters between your particular tankless water heater vent and other vents will be determined SOLELY by the manufacturer's installation instructions supplied with your specific water heater AND the mechanical code that has been adopted by your local jurisdication.

The link that jake the wonderdog provided applies NO WHERE in the UNITED STATES.

Call your minicipal code enforcement office for guidance.

You haven't gotten proper guidance here.
