Only worth it if you are going to do the labor yourself to pull it out. If you have to pay the demo company to do it, then you won't realize any savings. They aren't going to be careful and sort it for you without compensation. And sometimes, them recycling home components is part of their compensation that they figure into their bid. If you remove it, the bid may go up.

Tell them you are going to donate it to an organization that will use it to make crafts, as their support.

Thanks very much for the input. Right now it's in the demo company's scope of work to pull all the "plumbing", they don't know what it is and so presumably I could still ask them to give the copper to me and it wouldn't impact their bid, but you raise a good point in that then I'd have to sort it, etc., in which case it may be more trouble than it's worth.

The demo company will remove all the copper, brass and aluminum plumbing, fixtures, wiring, hinges, etc and sell it themselves.

Copper is bringing a good deal of money at the scrap yards.

Copper with solder brings far less than "clean" copper. Clean copper is shiny, not tarnished. So old plumbing is not the most valuable copper.
