I did read somewhere about the bottom of a purse being yucky. 'Losing' my purse in Italy one time, taught me a valuable lesson about keeping my purse on my person. My purse never sits on the floor. I use a purse hanger to hold it on the edge of the table. If the purse hanger doesn't work because of table design, I hang it on my knee or wear the strap across my chest. I don't carry fashionable purses because, 1) I can't be bothered and 2) I prefer function over fashion for the safety factors... primarily strap design so I can do the 'across-the-chest' wearing. Also, I had a hook in my old kitchen where I hung my purse as I had very little counter space for it to land on. No room to cook, much less store a purse. So I guess I only need to worry about the sponge, can opener, garbage can, ..... :-) Pepper ps. I did get my purse back. Bless the people at the restaurant. And now I need to think about where I can hang my purse in the not-yet-finished-past-schedule kitchen.

I used an old 3 dollar lol, lunch box. It was 5X7 or bigger , cut it and put fabric around it. Then I used Velcro on all the ends so I can change it up from purse to purse as a change it. Also maybe use and cheap exercise pad you can get at walmart for 6 bucks because then you can make a few diff ones for cheap.

All you can do is make trouble, get off to a terrible start with your future daughter-in-law and her family, make yourself look controlling and petty, and make your son miserable, because he will be caught in the middle. And over what? Tables? What is going to happen when you don't like their decisions about where they live or how they raise children? Reread lowspark's post, above. Is that what you want your daughter-in-law to think about you? I gather that although you are chipping in money, they are still the hosts, planning the party and making the arrangements. As we all wrote already, we understand your concerns, although I think you may be worrying too much that unassigned seating will result in all your guests having an "awful time" because they will be "forced" to sit with people they don't know. I don't like "open seating," but I don't have an "awful" time at such parties. I certainly wouldn't "leave early and regret coming in the first place" over such a little thing, and I don't think your dear friends and family, who want so much to share this wonderful occasion with you, will, either. "They are firm in their thinking." They aren't going to change their minds. So the only choice you have now is whether you will be gracious about it or whether you want to make trouble for your son. You can continue to argue about it, and then you can ruin the reception by complaining about the seating and making sure all your guests know that you understand they are having an "awful" time. Or you can forget about it, enjoy the day the same as you would any party where the hosts are doing something wrong, and focus on visiting with your family and friends, and on your son and his happiness. That is the most important gift you can give him. You have already given your request and your advice, based on your experience, but they are stubborn. Some important things to consider when buying a point and shoot digital camera: 1) Get one with an IS if possible, 2) With a viewfinder. Many recent models took out the viewfinder to make place for a larger LCD display. The LCD display is not a big help to view when you're outdoor in bright light condition. 3) One that uses AA or AAA batteries. Rechargeable batteries of this type are easier to find but recharging can be a bothersome when you travel outside the US. However, AA and AAA are sold just about anywhere in the world, a great convenience. Which means... any of the Canon Powershot from model A590 IS and up are good buys. I just recommended to my boss the Powershot A590 IS. He wants to spend around $150 and at BuyDig.com, the price is around $145, no shipping, no tax and with US warranty. Watch out for gray market price = import and did not meet US standard; thus, have no US warranty.
