What? Is that "minus" eight?

I actually had to wear a coat to work the other morning, but by noon, it was back to short sleeve weather.

Supposed to be 83 tomorrow, no I'm not rubbing it in, just sweating it out down here in the south...and looking for a little, and I repeat, a little relief. Don't like anyhting colder than 30F.

That must be a strange feeling one minute its snow, next it`s in the 80`s I take the 80`s sent it north. To many new fuel truck on the road someone making money, and it`s not me.

Rather cliche for the South, but there are many crapemyrtles, especially the largest ones such as Lagerstroemia faureri (really pretty orange bark iwth white flowers, 20-30' when mature and rounded canopy) or the 'Natchez' cultivar of Lagerstroemia indica (or a hybrid of) that is also white flowering and gets about 25-30 tall and 25' wide with a oval and spreading canopy when mature, also with pretty bark that is cinnamon in color. Crapes are usually always disease free and NEVER hatrack a crapemyrtle tree--there are clueless landscapers all over the South that still do this.

No fair..just when I was on step 8 of my 12 step plan for tomato addiction! I actually cut down by 8 plants this year! Now this...and it is at a time and place I can go! drooooolllll.......fast heart beat...calm down....whew!!! Actually picked first red tomato yesterday. It was on my driveway mystery and I am sure it is a Matt's Wild dropped by the birds. Teeny little thing and I asked hubby if it tasted like fabric softner since it is near the dryer vent!I have several driveway mysteries this year!

Annie, was thinking of someway for you to fill in a few days with something that might be of interest. If you travel a bit north from Harlingen you'll bump into San Antonio. SA is about a 3 1/2 hour drive north of Harlingen - pretty wide open driving and nothing to slow you down. The King Ranch owns most of the land along this route. About 1/2 way between Harlingen and SA is one of the best BBQ places in Texas. There are several Motel 6's in the SA area. You might find bargains on the Riverwalk this time of the year (off season) and maybe you'd be nearer many of the major attractions/history. There are many things of interest that would keep you moving and out of the motel several hours a day. There is a hop on - hop off trolley that's convenient and easy to use. Might be less expensive to stay downtown than parking and lot fees on a daily basis etc. Austin is about a 1 1/2 hour drive from San Antonio. If it appealed to you both and was an easy fix, you might choose to drive to SA, spend a couple of days then drive into Austin for a couple of days before picking up your return flight. We are having 80 here today in central AL. What a way to celebrate the holidays. -8 I could not do anymore. LOL. But I am not fond of the sweating either ! c

I don't know how I missed this thread until now. Beautiful photos but you're just a little too smug about the 75-degrees and sunny. Ice storm here, no sun, no flowers, no berries. Wish I had my camera, I'd send you a picture of ice--icicles, ice sidewalks, iced roads, iced cars. LOL, enjoy your south TX weather.

Konrad, those are yaupon berries. The shrubs grow wild here and grow just about everywhere. The bushes make great landscaping shrubs that can be trimmed into different shapes.

The berries are the major food for the robins when they arrive down here.

I have been posting from work a few times, but yes, I did go with wireless, which was my only option here other than satellite which was way too expensive.
