Paint Shop Pro

I have Adobe Photoshop but was thinking about getting Paint Shop Pro also. The computer I do my photo editing on is not connected to the internet. Someone recently told me after installing you had to go online to activate PSP. Anybody know if this is true. Don't want to buy it if I can't use it. It's irritating enough to get constant messages from Photoshop wanting to go online to talk to the mothership.
