Living in the Mid-Atlantic--WV's Eastern Panhandle--maybe it was a stretch to write "ski resort", but it does have skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. The place is White Tail, just over the PA line from MD and about 30 minutes away from me in WV. It's just enough farther north and higher in elevation that when it gets really cold, s - - - can be made. At night, it's neat to get on I-81 in WV and see the lighted slopes in PA. I confess that I use the tubing runs; that way, if I fall, I'm pretty close to the ground. :>) It's still fun.

If it flopped over already this year after being moved last year, it makes me think perhaps your soil is to rich. Did you add a lot of compost or fertilize? They do better with a lean soil. Also if you had a lot of rain, it might cause them to flop. That said, when you;re ready to divide, just dig up the clump and cut or pull apart into pieces. Though I've occasionally done it in fall it's far easier in the spring when the plants are just breaking dormancy.

can you post some pictures of the plants at maturity and the area you're planting? I like pale blue and white with orangey colors, red violets with coral. butter yellow with soft salmon-coral. I'm not sure which your autumn coral blooms are.

O.K. Glenda, you've convinced me to give them another try, cooked with sugar, tossed with bacon drippings (trying to stay away from grease, drippings SOUNDS a little less like fat LOL) and some red pepper flakes. Who knows you just might have a convert here :o). I cube and boil Rutabaga, drain, toss in some sugar, butter/marg and dill weed before I serve it. So maybe I should try your turnip fixins on Rutabaga too. Annette
