I was wondering if anyone here used Picasa for their pictures. I like the program, but if I want to add a picture to an email, or as I just tried, went to tiny pics to try to add a picture to a web site, I cannot get a picture out of picasa. If I was to send a picture in an email, I have to go into the Picasa program and send it from the email in Picasa. Is there any way to pull these pictures out another way.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you attach a picture to an email/web site do you not go to the folder containing your pictures on your hard drive?

yes, but Picasa will not come up for me. I wondered what I was doing wrong.

"...how the heck could 3 mb be too large? Do you have any ideas?" I see two galleries, I've used neither. Trying them just now, they don't seem to get along with Firefox? I'm assuming this is the upload form you're using? http://photos.gardenweb.com/garden/galleries/upload.html If so, it does say "Make sure the image doesn't exceed 500 KB". That being the case, your images are around six time too large. I'm betting that if, as suggested by DA, you use Irfanview to downsize them first, they'll upload fine. BTW, the uploader that's available here in these forums(not the gallery) allows a full "5000 k". It resizes the images to make them more bandwidth friendly. Although it's been a very long time since I've been on dial-up, I remember it being excruciatingly slow. Loading a page containing even a single 3 MiB image would have probably given me time to go brew a pot of coffee, come back and drink a cup. Am I remembering it being worse than it really was? At about 3 KiB/s download speed(I lived way out in the sticks) it would have taken how long? Maybe 1024 secs? 17 minutes? Maybe my math is not precise but the point is that although 3 MiB is small for those with high-speed Internet, for those on dial-up it's really huge.

Thanks for posting Raven. I was out of the country the day of the original post so am happy that it was brought back up to the top with comments. I take hundreds, if not thousands of photos a month and use Picasa every single day I'm not on the road traveling. I love the program and know it inside out. And while I fully understand that I will be still be able to use it, I am disappointed that there will be no further improvements on this great and easy to use app. I upload my images to Flickr, with only my mobile images uploading to Google Photo. In my mind, Google Photo is a much better alternative to Apple's iCloud as it allows me to delete images from my phone to free up space without deleting them on iCloud as well (at least that's what I've read will happen. Hopefully Google will offer an app similar to Picasa with some much needed upgrades. Jodi-

If you want to attach a pic to an email you don't need to open Picasa.
Just click "attach file" and you'll get a "choose file" box.
Go to where you keep your pics..My Docs etc and choose.
As I understand it Picasa just "monitors" your pic folders,it isn't a pic folder unto itself. So you can't do an attachment from it.
I hope I understand your problem correctly.

That explanation should be of help to you......also, if you want to embed or link a photo to a website, that can be done directly from picassa by copying and pasting the url address they supply on the right hand side of your album page.

Terminology seems to be getting crossed up and causing room for confusion.

For reference purposes there are two Picasas that can be in play. There is the picasa you have on your computer. As mooner noted you can just click on "e-mail" in there and send a pic by e-mail from there if you want.

Also, Picasa will let you set up a web site account and upload pics from you computer to its web site in your Picasa program on your computer. Then, as referenced above, you can link to other places on the web from there.

Lastly, if you want to store your pics somewhere on the web besides picasa's web site, you have to "export" the picture/file in the Picasa on your computer to another place on your computer, where you can then upload them to, say, Photobucket. At least that is the way I do it.
