Sultry Jasmine: I feel so lucky to have such a great Greenhouse close by, especially one that is family owned. I love going there & feeling like the dollars I spend stay in our community which, believe me, is a pretty chunk of change when it's all said and done. Everyone who's asked about fragrance: they are both fragrant, but it was hard to tell how much so yesterday because everything was so wet from all thera rain we had off & on. As some of these buds open I'll come back and comment about the fragrance. One thing I can tell about them though is that TPW's fragrance reminds me of Golden Celebration's fragrance.. Sort of fruity & crisp & very yummy. Olivia had more of a floral musk, but again hard to say how strong yet. Marlorena, this is something I've never come across before, "mona lavender", i don't think it is actually in the "lavender" plant family though. I know it is an annual plant in my zone & the sweet lady I met in the aisle where they were being displayed told me that she grew several of them in pots on her porch last summer, they only received indirect light & they bloomed all summer long. I snagged up 2 of them to put on my porch under the same conditions. They don't have a fragrance, but I love the flower color & the foliage, they feel very exotic. Can I talk about Rosa 'Munstead Wood? Cultivated in a garden in zone 9b (winters with little intense and little persistent frost between -1º / -5ºC and very hot summers, with temperatures around 32 / 35ºC and even some days reaching almost 40ºC) I cultivate two specimens of this variety in my garden. Both are grafted. In my garden is very refloreciente. The roses are beautiful and have a strong aroma. However, I must emphasize his propensity for powdery mildew. Just formed the buds at the beginning of spring quickly appears the terrible white powder on them. It is true that then, in summer, when the temperatures rise a lot, the disease low in intensity and practically disappears. I do not apply chemicals. Sometimes I make a mixture of potassium soap with water or I make a tea of nettles. How much color is very changeable. The spring bloom is so dark. The typical dark purple color appears in autumn bloom. It is a rose-bush with many thorns. The leaves are beautiful when they are born. With a very beautiful dark border !! It is very refloreciente. The flowering continues well into the autumn. It is also true that little resemble the roses of spring and those of autumn. The roses that sprout in autumn are less full of petals and somewhat smaller. The color, as I say, much more obscure than those of spring. Inspired by @kitasei2 's comment, maybe I'll plant something short and purple in color in front of the stone foundation. I'm also thinking extending the flowerbed south of the sidewalk. That will give me another 16-18 feet and should be able to put in three or four more Bobos. In the next picture, I put down the white hose to line out the idea and added a few images. Behind the bobos, I'm thinking of putting a few earth angels or two earth angels and one or two Olivia Austin. It still seems to need a punctuation somewhere. Maybe a Tiffany blue tall planter by the corner of front porch and front steps. The all-wood siding panel and railing seems a little dark and need to brighten up somehow. Any suggestions? This is the view when we walk up to the front door. As you can see, we are in a woodland setting and there is lots of green in the summer but not much color. In the far background, I plan to plant a row of blue Endless summer by an old lilac bush. We rebuilt a water feature and I've got ideas about the plants I want for a Japanese-inspired water feature garden there. It's the front yard that I'm stressing out a little. I can't decide whether I should move the bottom two Bobos closer to the path or just plant something there (iris, or lilic tree, or snapdragon). Can't decide what to do with the slope on the right either... I'm still trying to figure out my garden style and the landscaping that fits the house architecture. It is helpful just to allow me to think aloud with you guys here. Any ideas about general landscaping or plant choices are welcome! Sorry these two pictures seem to be small still.
