You're right, it's Winter somewhere and today somewhere is Minnesota. 27 this morning and we had an inch or two of snow yesterday. What a treat to see these beautiful waterlilies this morning.

Ok, ok..I am givning in! I am on the prowl for either those birds or a couple of green singing finches. Jojo, you just made me realize how much I miss hearing the singing of birds in my home.lol It made winetr go by so much better than the dead silience in my home. I think I know who named those birds..lol. Such cute names that only a kid or two can come up with. I would love for you to raise them along side of us, all the way to the brood, hatchlings, and babies. I would love that Jojo since I have a thing for birds. Just love them and you have yourself such a beauty of a pair! Hi Al, Jodi, Josh, Jodik, and Laura! I missed all while I was sick.;-) Laura. Ok, don't lob a snowball at my head but for some reason this year I am not in the whiney pre-spring stage. This winter has seemed to go by fast and while I am of course looking forward to spring, I am not in the least unhappy with winter. We're going through some of our coldest temperatures right now as usual, with overnights well below zero - but I'm ok. What I am most happy about is that suddenly the days seem appreciably longer. I love being able to watch the sunset through the bare trees *from home!* instead of seeing a bit of it as I drive my 40 minute commute home and then have it be darkening as I pull in the drive. Still, a pot of mini roses to fuss with wouldn't be a bad thing at all. I've done that before and ended up with as many as 5 nice little plants that went outdoors in spring to become a pretty border to my front flower bed. Hmmm...I'll have to go shopping after work today. :-)

Carrie, Justaguy took the words right out of my mouth. There's always something to add or change. But...I love it! I didn't pull anything out when I moved in, because there wasn't anything here but 4 small shurbs, but I added several gardens. Granted the first 3 yrs cost me a pretty penny to add things, but it was worth it. Then I added one more small garden behind the shed. I planted annuals there. But then a couple of years later I decided I wanted veggies there. 2 yrs ago hubby finally agreed that I could put plants on a small slope on one side of our yard. So I've been doing that, but mostly with divisions from my other gardens. This summer I'm going to do the borders over on most of my gardens. After this summer, I'm hoping to get a little break for a couple of years at least...until I want to change one of the other gardens. :) Enjoy your new home and have a wonderful time fixing everything up! Turquoise, where I live we're supposed to hit 60 on Wednesday (the last time I looked). But by next Friday it's supposed to be in the low 30s with a chance of snow. :( Kat

THANKSGIVING TO ALL!! I was thinking earlier today that we should have the turkey tonight and have those wonderful leftovers and sandwiches tomorrow with our feet up, watching the games! I love my friends and family and consider ourselves extremely fortunate today. I find myself being more compassionate and giving on a local scale and would do more if we could to provide shelter and food and clothing for those that need our help. Beautiful! The swan and the giant lily pads looks like a fairy tale! Where is Lake Wales? We winter in the Ocala National Forest, and with our crappy weather Ron mentioned, we will be darn glad to leave MN for the winter!

Joan, this winter you should do a day trip from the Ocala area down to Lake Wales - it's south of Orlando about 1 1/2 hours. One of the oldest Florida tourist destinations is a carillon tower located on the highest point in the state. Florida doens't have very many hills but this little area has them, and from the grounds around the tower you can see miles and miles of orange groves. Bok Tower Gardens, right in Lake Wales, was opened in the 1920's and is a throwback to those days. The gardens aren't extravagent but they are lovely. And the tower itself is beautiful, with intricate granite work and tiles. A couple times a day the carillon bells are played and you can hear it all around the gardens.
