Your Help Please

I am having my bathroom remodeled because of a slight boo-boo by my dad. Anyway I am going to have some wall space for some art work of some type, which is where ya'll come in! I have saved some favorite pictures here but would like a few more as I am going to print and frame them. I like to surround myself with stuff that makes me smile and your photographs all make me smile! Plus ya'll are so darn good that I would have original art from very special new cyber friends.

I won't be in this house forever but these are something I can take with me wherever I end up and will always have the memory of them.........well unless I get dementia like my dad! LOL! I know ya'll don't know me well but I can promise you these would be used for my enjoyment only.

Sishipup- Great links. Thanks. There are some advocacy groups out there. Most are just there, and don't make much noise or difference. Social services are mostly bilingual, and low quality. We have some rides for Day services and other. We have mostly for profit companion type or Visiting Nurse type agencies. We also have some state and VA help for the elderly. State help is not great. There is an income threshold. The people seem to be unqualified, unreliable...Visiting Nurse is ok, but very expensive. There is no all around para-nursing type of homecare that I have in mind. Maybe that's all it can be- a dream. Laws and red tape may not allow what is BEST for an elderly to remain at home and independent. 1. I'm not questioning IF I can do it. I am questioning if a homecare business will be a big headache because quality people are hard to find. I cannot run and take over. 2. LIABILITY, and incorporating some grey area medical care is a huge problem in my state. 3. Licensing a business, and liability in my state is different for medical and non-medical.* The distinction here is key. 4. CMAs in my state cannot give meds. The nursing lobbying in CT is interesting. They made sure that the easier stuff is saved for nursing care.The nurses don't want to draw blood, so it's ok for others, including the CMAs to do it. Ironically, you can do a lot of damage here ;) I do agree that certain aspects of medical care should not be done by non-medical personnel. Things like IV's, monitors, deep tissue or venous injections. Initial wound care (first change). Some meds that require special monitoring. These are NURSES jobs and they charge $220/hr....However, day to day stuff that technically a person could do themselves but are too frail to do it, should be ok to be done by TRAINED personnel, even though they are non-medical (CNAs and HHAs fall into this category). As long as they are shown how by a nurse, doctor... I have a lot of work to do. I have to check on what exactly my state considers medical; where the lines are drawn. Dealing with my state is no picnic. Getting a hold of a live body in the state of CT is a challenge. Then sifting through the BS jargon is another. You can never get a straight answer. They have the best jobs in the entire US. Trust me on this. Maifleur- Maybe it's time to change things. APRNs and PAs were not allowed to do much 20 years ago. I know. I worked with them. Now because insurances want to pay less, they are allowed to act like doctors and even write scripts! Maybe its time for a legislative change that trained personnel can give meds, eh? I have seen doctors and nurses make LOTS of meds mistakes in my time, so let's not make them invincible. Quality of care depends on the person giving it.

outright fighting is not the only way they show hostility Funny you should say that, Breenthumb. I came downstairs this morning and discovered that one of the cats had peed on top of an antique table during the night. I have a tendency to blame Annie, but this time she was locked up, and so was Rocky. Pogo and Annie were so skittish this morning. Pogo usually spends some time in my bedroom after I get up, but he didn't stay this time. Peachy was afraid to come downstairs. They were nervous, and I was nervous. I played with Rocky a lot before Pogo and Peachy joined us downstairs, hoping to discharge some of his energy. He has an abundance of it. Then a few minutes ago Peachy (much smaller than Rocky) hissed at him, and he took a step toward her. That was all it took to make me want to put an end to this situation, at least for now. So I put Rocky outside. I know he'll want to come in. I have loved seeing him enjoying the comforts of home. But we'll try this for awhile, and continue to give the situation some thought. At least in the warm weather Rocky will have lots of human companionship outdoors, as we're a family of gardeners. I cancelled the vet appointment. Annie has never been easy to handle, and when I showed up she hid under the bed. The last thing I want is to risk another cat bite. I changed the dressing this morning, and my hand and wrist are swollen, red, and hot. I hope the Augmentin takes care of the infection. My thanks again to all.

Here are a few ideas-- 1.Widen the walkway with bricks on either side that match the house and take out the grass from between the walk and house and make it part of the bed. 2.Have all plants in front of the windows be lower that the windows. Go to a nursery and look at what is available that you like. Ground cover in front of the shrubs and annuals or something very short in front of the stoop. Matching planters on the stoop on either side of the door. 3.Black shutters on the windows on the brick end of the house would help unify both 'parts' of the house.

If I could have white or off-white blinds and trim, I wouldn’t even be adding drapery panels. My reason for adding off-white panels is to “lighten” and “brighten” the space. As I wrote in the first paragraph: I am currently renting this 1440 sq ft apartment in a large complex, and I am not allowed to change wall color, blinds, etc. I am working within these limits. Fortunately, the blinds are much less noticeable when open. They were closed only to control the light for the photos. Apparently using the word “bright” was misleading. I’m not referring to color. The choices I’ve made since moving here include glass-top tables, clear acrylic (counter stools), reflective metal finishes, and off-white fabrics in a variety of textures for throws, pillows, and small ottomans. They really do lighten and brighten the space. I want to continue that as I select the drapery panels. I have gradually moved toward a much more minimal style, but case goods that are decades old already had clean lines so I didn’t have to start all over. Eclectic and developed over time, this style gives me a serene simplicity that I really like. [My thanks goes to Houzz contributors as well as local designers.] The New Zealand wool area rug is new, and it took me over a year to find: I love it. It is intentionally similar in color to the porcelain tile, adding texture and picking up every color in the sofa. The questions I’m asking are re-stated below: 1) Which hanging style of panels would give me “neat stacks” and complement my furnishings? 2) Where might I find a 42”w x 21”d x 18”h rectangular coffee table with [a thick] glass top and simple metal legs similar to the EA Ferri ottomans as shown in the first photo at the top of this dilemma?

Any themes you are looking for, or a certain type you would like to have? I have many picture that are not located online. What size of print do you intend to use?

OMG, those are beautiful! I am not really going for a theme but rather a collection of photos that just make me smile. I plan on doing different sizes and if I end up with too many for the wall in there I have lots of other wall space. My life is very stressful right now but I realized when I come here I leave with a smile. that is what gave me the idea to surround myself with photos that bring that smile more often............
I love flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, sunsets, sunrises and the ocean......among a few things!

The other thing is if you have a collection or just a few post cards. You can make a collage by cutting out what interest you and blend them in with other photos etc. Ask your friends if they have any postcards. I have a stack of them that I bought but never got mailed out.

Great idea about the postcards! I did something similar with calanders at my place, but somehow the photos here just bring out something in me, hard to explain but in simple terms, they make me feel good!
