Can't stop ...the...

I went to the store to buy a new lens, saved the $$$ for it after a few months of eating at home everyday. While the salesperson was lying to me about how more megapixels make a better camera, I spaced out and grabbed the Nikon D80 (I have had camera envy for awhile). While looking at it, another salesperson asked, "Have played with the D90, yet?"

- "It's out?" - me

- "Received it a few days ago"- her

She opened a cabinet door -not even on display yet- and I swear I heard Angelic Voices. It had to be Devine intervention...

Well when i say a proper forum i'm not being derogatory to the good people on here,its just that well i post on a lot of forums from all subjects,and GW works really different to what i call a forum-not as bad as yahoo groups tho! Also GW is primarily for gardeners something i don't really enjoy. I love plants but not gardening. And of course most of the trees on here are the garden kind,bred to be as small as possible,to fit in a space. Nothing wrong with that of course but I like to see BIG trees growing in the wild or arboreta etc. I'd love to show you what I grow but all I have is a lowly goldcrest,i just don't have the space or,at the moment,the time. So i see my trees online but find it hard to believe there is not one tree forum out there! If i had the time and money I'd make my own and you'd all be welcome to join and share your sylvian experiences. But as it is all I have is GW with its ads surveys and hangups. Luckily I use my phone a lot and so don't see any ads. It just tends to hang up on me.

I found out it is my firewall that is blocking my photographs from downloading to my computer. Is there a setting in the firewall I can adjust to stop this happening? "Horton"

Hi Tosca, here are pics of our walk in pantry beneath the stairs. It's a funky odd space but we made good use of it. Pic 1 - the door is right next to our fridge (fridge & rest of the kitchen is to the right). This opens up to the section that I think is under the top of the stairs or perhaps it's under the 2nd floor landing. The ceiling is pretty high. Pic 2 - the pantry then wraps around under the stairs and behind the fridge. The door to the right leads to the furnace which is also under the stairs. Because the furnace may someday need to be replaced, we opted for a rolling cart for our coffee maker rather than a built in cabinet. Not shown: the wall directly behind the fridge. We have our mops and brooms hanging on that.

Jin, Here is my Gertrude. Sorry she is not in focus. I have a very cheap phone/camera. She has a bunch more buds about to pop open. She smells great, but it is not the intense smell that La Reine has. Gertrude is more sugary sweet and lighter. I have heard that she is not the best for lots of rebloom. We will see. I don't have a single bud on CPM. There was one when I got the bushes, but on the delivery truck the bushes must have been crammed together so tightly and a lot of the canes were distorted and bent. Her only cane with a bloom was damaged so I took it off. I might have to wait until Fall before I see a bloom on her. Jin, how are the scents on Pat Austin and Molineux? The blooms both remind me of Abraham Darby. Oh, I wish I had known which ones would bloom the most before I went and bought everything available! I want it all--great and frequent rebloom, beautiful flowers, lots of rich colors, health, vigor, and intense fragrance. Why is that so hard to find? I guess at this point I should admit that I placed an order for more Ausins but this time on Fortuniana. I called Geoff at coolroses (he is closer to me--calling works best as he never answered my email) but he didn't have any of the intensely fragrant ones so I ordered them from K&M.

I added a Lensbaby to the collection. I am no where near good with it. It has a learning curve, for sure. I have seen some spectacular pictures taken with the Lensbaby. Here are some practice shots:

LOL, ZJ...the only way to talk myself out of buying anything like that is DH...the thought keeps me on my toes...Looks like you have a good start on the lens baby...Oh by the way how do you like the D90?

It is a great camera. However, I not totally sure how I feel about the D90. It performs well, I wish it would focus a little faster. Low light performance is great, well beyond my previous cameras (which I still use regularly). However, I feel you are able to get better color quality out the box with the Olympus system. I hate spending time adjusting 'levels' afterwords. I like it right the first time, out the camera.

As close as you can get in comparison, some of the quality glass is cheaper with Olympus, However, Nikkor has so many more options available vs the 4/3rds system is still fairly new and there isn't that many option out there. The view finder on the D90 blows Olympus out the water. The optical viewfinder in Olympus cameras is so small.

Tech upgrades on the D90 are great, 12.3MP, High ISO, Live mode, movie capture ability and it can take SDHC cards( I really like that). I don't know that I really needed Lv view since I haven't used it yet, but the movie mode has been a nice addition. Granted, it's not great, but still nice.

I also bought the 50mm f1.8 but it is still in the box. I was able to get it NIB for just over $100, so I couldn't pass it up.

Linda - yes, I am at Offutt AFB, NE. I was stationed here four years ago for four years. I have been TDY here for a month and I am ready to return home to Erin, Abigail and Elijah.

a D90 ad caught my eye and my brain went "mmmmmmmmmmmm"
howsomever myself doesn't know a third of what i should be doing with the D70 (and probably never will) so i was able to nip the desire in the bud...no budget helped too ;o)
