WOW, that big leopard picture is gorgeous. You did a good job getting a photo of it. I can easily see the marbling in the mat. And all the gold trim. I love all animals, and pictures of them, but the Big Cats are definitely high on my list of favorites. And leopard print material is really lovely. So is your tiger pillow! I'm sure there are many tools that would work but since I have Gimp and am sort of kinda half way familiar with it, that's what I'd use. (1) Open the photo (2) Upsize the canvas(Image>Canvas Size)... unlock the aspect ratio and increase the height, you'd need to do the math. (3) Create a new layer(Layer>New Layer)... by default it should be the size of the canvas, which is what you want. (4) Use the paint bucket to fill the new layer with white. (5) Move the new layer behind/underneath the photo layer. (Drag it down in the Layer dialogue) If all goes well you'll have the original photo with white padding (only) at the bottom and it will be proportional to the 16x20 paper. There might be an easier way but that seems to work.

I am guessing that your monitors are not calibrated and I have no access to the picture so...there is no way to really tell you how your picture will look like. Not to sound like a jerk but spend the 15 cents and get it printed. Since it is a screen shot I am pretty sure the picture is lacking the DPI to really go any larger than the 4x6.

Thanks so much ladies, for all your sweet comments. I almost didn't post the pictures because it isn't a usual quilt, and I know a lot of the lines are not straight and some of the pictures are off the angle a bit, but in the end I decided that it was the 'feelings' and 'memories' that the pictures reminded her of that was important, and not specifically if they were all straight or even. We had an absolute ball going though old pictures and choosing which ones we would use. The only part I kept a secret from her was cutting up the old skating dresses to make those appliqued letters. She cried when she realized that! With the June Tailor sheets, you send them thru the printer, take the paper backing off, then rinse them in cool water for a few minutes, then lay them flat to dry. When they're almost dry, you heat set them with a hot iron. After they were cooled, I Used wonderunder to fuse the backs of the pictures, then arranged then where I wanted them, removed the wonderunder paper and fused the pics right to the panel. Woodsy, I used Dritz fusible bias tape, in a 1/4 in size. I did some of the pics in black, but I was also able to find it in gold and silver metallic, which really did set off the photos very well. So I fued the bias tape right on the edge of all the pictures and let that cool. Then I used a thread that matches the bias tape, and ran a zig-zag stitch around every picture. The embroidery I did on my SingerXL6000. (LOVE THAT MACHINE!) I should have done more planning to make sure all the panels were the same size, but I did this whole thing start-to-finish in a week so there was not a lot of time to change things once I got started. :) I'm truly sorry this will be the only one I make. It was such fun! I may have to hire myself out because I have so many neat ideas that I could make 10 more before I ran out. I have 2 neices graduating in 3 years, so there's some hope that I will get another chance :) If anyone is interested in doing any of the photo projects and has a questioon, please feel free to email me, I'd love to help!
