Technical question on Minolta lenses

Posted by anyanka (My Page) on

I have a 30-year-old Minolta XG-M and want to get a 50mm lens for it. There are a couple of proper Minolta/Rokkor lenses at good prices on ebay, but I cannot remember which lenses are compatible with which camera. It all changed when the autofocus cameras came in, didn't it? What do I need to look for?

Sorry if this is a really dopy question, but I haven't bought any SLR equipment for at least twenty years...

RE: Technical question on Minolta lenses

I don't know much about Minolta, I had a P&S back in the early '90s

What I do know:
2003 - merged with Konica to make Konica-Minolta
2006 - departed the photography market with the majority of its camera division being sold to Sony; thus the Sony "A" (alpha) series was born.

Do search for 'Konica-Minolta forums"

I get my expert advise from dpreview.com , there is a K-M forum there. You will possibly find better answers there.
