pic color drained

How do you get the picture to look alive? When I post a picture, they are so drab next to most others I see. What is the secret?

Any help appreciated.

I'm no expert but probably a lot of people use a program like Photoshop Elements to sharpen and adjust colors in their photographs. There are other programs out there that will work also.

If your camera menu has a Color Space option, it will probably let you choose between sRGB and Adobe RGB (and possibly others). The default is probably sRGB because older monitors are limited to that smaller color space. Adobe RGB is a larger color space, and newer monitors can benefit from a larger color space.

Also, your camera may have a menu setting for Picture Control, with options like Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome, Portrait, and Landscape. Check your camera manual to see what options are available to you.

Thank you. I take no offense at all. My opinions of miracle grow come from seeing so many people have poor results with it. When I sell someone a tomato plant, I try to discourage them from using it for container growing, not because it's impossible to use with good results, but because it's just too hard for the average person. It might be because of poor instructions on the box. You said yourself that you use a lower strength formula. And once again, I use the stuff myself on plants that are in the ground. My container plants were in a combination of two different pro mixes. One of them contained a shrimp shell compost. I added osmocote time-release fertilizer to the mix. I used the regular osmocote; next year I might try the mini-prill plus minors. With every watering, the plants got a mix of a lot of different things, such as alaskan fish, bat guano, epson salts, molasses, and greensand. The water I used came from a tank of bluegill. I did do two fertilizations using my chemical ferts that I bought for my soil tomatoes, but I was extremely judicious with the measuring of those. One was calcium nitrate and the other was similar to miracle grow, but the npk numbers are different. The last number is the highest. I don't even measure the organic ferts, but I am extremely careful with the chemical ones. I also use straight fish tank water on the next watering after using chemical ferts. I don't expect anyone to do all of that, nor do I even know what part of the routine made it work. But they were good tomatoes. That's all I cared about.

Hello again Mike, Assuming that the copper riser above the Tee in your picture is a vent, then your current setup is fine, with the exception that you should have steel anti-nail plates on the face of the studs where the DWV & Water lines pass through the studs. On a side note; I would agree that all the piping shown in the picture is original to the house and whoever installed it did an excellent job of soldering. Rather than change the location of your trap you could opt to leave the tap where it is an add an extension tailpiece from the bowl drain to the trap. (code allows a maximum vertical rise of 24" from the trap water level to the finished opening of the bowl drain.) If I understand your proposal correctly you intend to cut the existing 1-1/2" copper sanitary tee out, then install an ABS tee at the same location and a 1/16 bend on the side opening of the tee with your waste arm rising at a 22.5deg angle up to your desired location. If that is so it would be code prohibited. Your horizontal fixture arm is required to be installed with a 1/4" per foot pitch. Under no circumstances may the bottom of the fixture arm pipe at the trap weir be higher than the top of the fixture arm pipe where it connects to the vent. You could use an extension tailpiece as I mentioned above or you would have to raise the tee 9".

Re: the profession-exaggeration, homebound, I kinda suspected it (since I get that from not only servicemen, but also society at large, all the time). Thanks for validating that, since misery loves company ;) In any case, I had done exactly that - in-person-summons... And he came last week and redid it though I'm not sure he followed all the steps listed in lazypup's pic. So far so good. The floor of the cabinet seems bone dry, and the finger-test tested dry as well. What's TP? Couldn't find it on google images.

What color are your countertops? Depending on what color they are, I think you could do a terracotta type color, but be careful with your kitchen table and chairs, which appear a little orangey on my monitor. I have "orangey" furniture in my dining room (natural cherry) and chose to paint the walls a pale creamy terracotta color (it's BM Aura, I think the color is 'Milk & Honey'). You could also take the next-lighter color on the same 'chip' as BM Dijon, or maybe two steps down, and use that color. I don't have my paint deck with me to see what those colors are. But what I'm thinking is that it doesn't have to be a "new" color -- could be a variation on another color you already have. Again, I don't have my colors here, so I don't know how any of this would play out with the Northampton Putty (is the living room open to the kitchen?).

I have my camera set to "vivid" so my colors pop more (personal preference for me)

I can also sharpen my pictures, although it doesn't make a tremendous difference on most.

I reduce the file size of my pictures before I upload (I use a windows power toy image resizer so I do not have to open the picture in a separate program to resize).

I do not use "auto" settings my my DSLR. I find that if I use auto settings my pictures are very flat and boring.

Explore your camera! Even if it not a DSLR, you can do some tweaking of the settings to get more out of it.

Contrast and/or lowering gamma or brightness, a little saturation. There are many paying and free programs that will do that. Vivid in camera does a good job, too! I'm not sure if you already have a program but I've been a loyal user of free Irfanview for at least 5 years. The first few years was trying to figure out what worked good for my personal taste.
