If I get one Baltimore Oriole sighting a year, I'm lucky. But this year a pair actually nested here, and I managed to get a long-distance shot of one of the babies before his (her?) flying skills developed. So cute!

I've never seen an oriole in my life, and oranges are my favorite colors, so am really enjoying these two pictures. Plus, it's encouraging for us newbies to see such a good photo as Konrad's taken with a "lowly" p&s!

ms_minnamous,...Thank you for your thoughts, I will look into submitting it somewhere...I know this shot is very special to me, it's a fluke,...like hitting the jackpot, I was sooo surprised, and this is one, out of about only 7 pictures the camera took, it just happen the bird set perfectly, the back ground was good and lighting was perfect, camera took picture by itself, about 12 inches away from bird. I made a home brew remote, it's self activate on a motion control board, the camera is inside a watertight pelican case and shooting through a glass, the camera is set on auto.

I learned the build on the web, Google trail camera, it's what hunters
use to check on wildlife, parts, [motion board] is from USA , if you don't feel comfortable
doing it yourself, you can get them build for around $200.
The 3 small batteries is running the motion board, the 2C batteries
are additional power for the Camera besides the 2AA in the Camera.
There are commercial trail cameras but never have the quality of picture.
If you have a Sony S600, [the best] or a P32, P40, P41 I think, P42,..you have a valuable
camera homebrewers like to get their hands on!
