OK, they're some kind of wildflower, not posies, but, I found a pocket of color once we finally got a little rain around here, so here they are:

Thanks for the ID, Eric. Coreopsis. Now that you point it out, its kind of easy to see.

But, uh, I'm kind of hoping that is a typo in your message? ;)

Beautiful! Yes, coreopsis, or the common name tickseed. I grow a few varieties and would love to have a field of them as in your first pic.
