to be more specific, plains coreopsis. It easily reseeds. I had it in my garden and some of the flower petals were a deep red towards the center. A friend of mine in the Native Plant Society in Collin County told me that pioneers used these flowers, especially the ones with the darker red centers, as a fabric dye.

Yes those are buddlejas. They have the most interesting scent. Like lilac and honey. Very strong. I was surprised to find that they make decent cut flowers. Who'd a thunk? My roses do get thrips. We've had some rain recently so they've been kept under control, but I do get them often. Luckily they usually only damage the outer petals so when the roses open you can't see the damage as much. Some buds get completely deformed though, and so I have to get rid of them. I did just spray some spinosad for the chili thrips however, because those are the worst and they do a lot of damage.

Todd's point on the fact that 15 year old homes are often not realistic candidates for a pocket replacement is very valid as well due to the type of products and installations used in that period. More generally speaking to your question though, the factors that would point to a full frame over pocket install are: 1) No option due to existing window style (ie: if existing windows are new construction vinyl) 2) Existing water leakage or questionable original installation 3) Substantial rot to the frame (not just the exterior trim pieces) 4) If light/visible glass is at a premium. This is common on homes that have few, or smaller windows to start with.
