Seedheads

These Allium, 'Globemaster' seedheads (about 7" diameter), are just as ornamental in the garden as when they're in bloom:

Clematis tangutica, Clematis ligusticifolia, Clematis terniflora, all have similar looking seed heads. USDA says none are present in MI, but BONAP mapping does seem to show Clematis terniflora present in MI so I am going to go with that one for now and see if I can find it again this spring/summer and maybe confirm when leaves and flowers are showing, Thanks for all the leads and assistance.

My green, watered, fertilized, mowed weekly bermuda lawn has seedheads

Seed heads are why people sometimes have to mow their bermuda 2x-3x per week. Your lawn is very normal. Your version of the correct mowing height is at the far upper end of being practical. That height is used because most rotary mowers can't go any lower, but if you had a reel type mower, 1/2 to 3/4 inch would be better. When bermuda is kept very low it takes on a different growth habit and becomes more dense. If you ever visit a golf course, look at the greens and how the grass stems grow sideways with the blades coming off the stem. Most residential bermuda lawns have vertical stems.

Hordeum jubatum (Foxtail Barley), thanks! "While foxtail barley may be palatable for animals in early spring before it flowers, its seed heads, when dry, are very harmful to grazing animals. The awns with upward-pointing barbs become easily attached and embedded in the animal's mouth and face, causing severe irritation, abscesses, and even blindness. Foxtail barley is also host to a number of viruses, and because it harbours wheat rust and blackstem rust, can indirectly affect the development of field crops." Interesting, because those awns seemed pretty soft, not spiky...but I barely felt them, so who knows?

My first pic is a wildflower, Indian Paint Brush I think.

Second is a wild thistle. And, the third one is a little grass that went to seed.

LOVE that angle on the poppy Ron.

Glad you liked the Allium photo, but it is indeed, 'Globemaster'.
Here's {{!gwi}} in bloom.

I used to have 'Star of Persia', but it died out. It's a much larger globe, sometimes reaching 10+ inches in diameter. Its florets are spaced much farther apart:

I have Purple Sensation-Allium...I had cleaned them out of garden already for the pods...This is when they 1st came out...Sorry for shaky but I think I was just trying out a new lens...
