Sunset

This pic isn't that great, but I was going to post it no matter what, since I had to climb to the top of a tree to take it, and I'm not quite the 'monkey' that I once was.

For me, the effort was worth it.

If you draw a line horizontally from the left side of the sun down to the horizon, that tiny little point is the church steeple, about two miles away.

Thanks for the replies. Air circulation is definitely important, especially when temperatures begin to rise in the spring. The partial shade spot that I'm thinking of is against the west side of my garage, and air circulation may be more limiting here than the relative shade. A. columbiana (the straight species, at least) is surprisingly leaf spot-prone in cultivation, even when it's in nearly-ideal conditions. Many of the A. densiflora selections from NorCal (Howard McMinn, Harmony, Sentinel) do much better up here.

Does 'Sunset' jade always mean 'Hummel's Sunset' ?

Marguerite - I would imagine this is just your typical 'Hummel's Sunset'. They mention it was grown outdoors so my guess is it just received that coloring from a lot of sun exposure. I have also seen them referred to as "sunset jades" before. -Erica
