Sunshine Rain

When I was a child in North Dakota, if my German grandmother saw rain falling in the sunshine she always said, "The devil is beating his wife". Years later in New Mexico I heard a Native American woman say "The devil's wife is crying" during a sunlit rain. I've never heard anyone else call it anything. It's pretty and I've always liked it. Besides all that, we desperately need the rain so it would have been nice, no matter what you want to call it!

Looks like it would sound like a soft, calming rain that could lull a person to sleep.

Lovely!

We always just called it a "sun-shower." I have heard it called the Devil's tears.

Nice photos, and a beautiful solarium!!

In Greece old people used to say: "Sun and Moon, the donkeys get married - Sun and Rain, the poor people get married"

Beautiful photo of the rain on water. Enjoyed the folklore too. Wonder what inspired those myths?

My Grandmother use to say "Rain when the sun shines; rain tomorrow, too."
