Dark smudge on picture

I am using a HP Photosmart 320 camera which is probably 5 years old.It always took ok pictures but now every picture has a dark smudge usually near the top of photo.Any idea what causes this?

It could be that the image sensor needs cleaning?

Ture, but that is an enclosed casing on that camera...

Still.. some dust or moisture can get in,...did you shoot in the rain?
You have to decide for yourself, if it's feasible get it fixed??????

True, I guess I have been lucky enough never to experience that.

Thanks, for your input. I doubt if it's worth fixing so guess it's time to look for a new camera.
