1 might possibly be Cypress Spurge, Euphorbia cyparissias 2 & 3 are definitely Mullein, Verbascum thapsis 4 is a Lupine, Lupinus sp 5 the geranium looks like Carolina Cranesbill, Geranium carolinianum 6 Prickley pear and maybe Canada Mayflower, Maianthemum canadense 7 and 8, Ebony Spleenwort (the fern) and maybe Polymnia canadensis, Pale flowered Leaf Cup. Wow...what a neat place Wendy! And how fun to have a "girl's get together". I bet that was a lot of fun! Are the pink flowers shooting stars? That *is* a tall pasque flowers. Are you sure you can't grow pasque flowers? The red one is always a challenge here, weak growing and no multiplying, but the purple one multiplies here like crazy. I don't know what the soil is like in MA, but soils tend to be pretty heavy here in Illinois...I think you need to give it a try! :-) P.S. That fern is cool...I love ferns! fragaria,I was very impress with the beautiful photos of your woodlands,especially the photos of the paths leading out into the forest.The sense they gave of having wilderness access right in the backyard,was very evocative.What beautiful place to live.And those shots fragaria posted of the north carolina woods with the mountains in the distance made me catch my breath.I enjoyed comparing the two ecosystems and though it would be a great idea for everyone to post images of thier locale so that we might all compare and contrast the difference enviroments.TO answer your question,that was a picture of my front yard,the small pile of split posts in the center is a future tomatoe patch(I'm running out of sunny spots in the back).
