....the name of this flower.

(I can't do the reflection assignment - since the only bodies of water around here are mud puddles, so I'll stick to my "up close and personal" for the time being).

It's not a lily. (Sure looks like one, doesn't it?)

Clue: It's only 12" tall, blooming right now in a garden area at the edge of some woods.

Yes David & Jqpublic, They are reruns but when you are a gardening addicted person who cares if they are. Each time you watch them you may get some info or ideas you might of missed previous. Six, ten, 20 years ago my ideas and style have changed and sometimes there is inspiration in others styles. So for us who can't get enough...get your coffee ready or Tivo. But you have to admit is the only true garden show showing on HGTV these days.

I was reminded of Moni just the other day. There was a story and photo in the paper about a Bike Ride Across Iowa, talking about how small towns Pop. 300 come to life with hundreds/thousands of bike riders coming through. Pretty darn hot to be doing that this year!

We will try the 43” but last night, watching the kitchen 18” and thinking about that 43,” I’m suspecting that the 55” might be best. I want to be able to easily read the CC. I watch beyond headlines news, PBS, history, some cooking/travel, science, docus, mostly non-fiction. Rarely movies but I would watch good ones. I never watch things like survivor, batchelor, sit-coms. Boring. I wouldn’t mind great images of bees, lichens, marine life, flowers, weather, chemical-science-natuaral history, taking up real estate. I was trying to set the SLEEP feature on the LG TV that I put in the bedroom (master bedroom TV bit the dust). It is an LG ”smart TV” so maybe I am just outsmarted. I usually have good technical and mechanical intuition and am not afraid of trial and error clicking and exploring. To me, the sleep-TV off is a feature I don’t wish to have to wade through menus to engage. With that LG menu system, it feels like the equivalent of having to go the the International Space Station for something as frequently needed as a glass of cold water.

"Trout Lily" aka "fawn lily" aka "dog's tooth violet" aka "adder's tongue."

It has a history of medicinal use by Native Americans.

Yes, it's a Dog Tooth Violet.
Erythronium 'Pagoda', to be exact.

(One of these days, I WILL stump you).

If you count common names, yes it's a type of lily as Kt pointed out.

The reason I said it's not a lily, is because I was thinking in terms of "true lilies".

A true lily and a dog's tooth violet are both in the liliaceae family.

But the true lily belongs to the genus Lilium.
(For example, Tiger lilies, Easter lilies, martagon lilies, Regal lilies are all true lilies).

My Dog Tooth violet (common name) comes from the genus Erythronium. 'Pagoda' is a cultivar (a hybrid of two North American species). Therefore, it's not a TRUE lily.

Complicated, huh?

Bottom line is, Kt is right if you count common names.
On the other hand, I was correct in saying "It's not a lily" if you're talking about true lilies.

I had to dig deep into scientific terminology to answer the best I could. I hope that clears things up.
