where'd my pics go?

I have a Canon PowerShot A95.

Never had any problems with it and download images on a daily basis.

I took quite a few shots this afternoon and when I went to download (upload?) them into my laptop, they were gone from the camera!

I've never experienced this before...what happened?

What type of memory(card) do you have?

Do you load directly using a cable or remove a memory card and load from there?

I remove the memory card and plug it into the Scandisk Image Mate, which in turn plugs into the laptop.

This is too wierd.

This is that time of year I make garden edit changes in my head since I can see what I've done wrong in such embarrassingly high relief. I tend to wander about in confused circles without aim doing this and that and end up all over the place doing some unrelated & some very unfocused waste of time things I'd just as soon not mention since I cannot jump in and start digging those things out right now like I want to do. Of course its hotter than hades so I keep coming inside to wash my face in cold water and clean my glasses from sweat so I can see. The guilt is that I know I am out there mostly piddling and there's all that work sitting undone on my desk but it does no good. Then I see a pristine tiger swallowtail butterfly and must get the camera so I take pictures for a while wishing those hummingbirds would come. Today I suddenly decided to dig around the perimeter of some really nice blue switchgrass and got myself 3 new good sized rooted starts potted up which are sitting in the shade to replace that "awful thing" that is simply not working & which I keep staring at and trying to mentally fix until my head hurts. I had finally decided to order some switchgrass online this fall as a replacement. I'm just slow enough on the ball to only just today think of digging my own starts as a belated stroke of genius during my aimless wandering and piddling. Now I'm eyeballing that big clump of 3 'Northwind' switchgrasses & patting myself on the back for saving myself some money since I can replace that other "awful thing" with these in two nice groupings of three's. Problem solved.

Are those drip lines, one to each side of the plant? If so, have you checked to determine if the water is getting to the original rootball? If not, please do. I've found that early on, I need to hand water at the bases of each plant for a while until the roots grow into the surrounding soil a bit.

Mazer: Actually I said she gets more play time now that the kids are back to school. So more walks, more ball throwing, more cuddles, well basically more everything! Maybe I should of worded it differently. I am always at home in the day time, we go for a long walk in the morning and then one right before the kids come home...so yeah she gets her walks in. Thanks girlswithaspirin, I use the arm and hammer pet foam and it seems to work great. She doesn't go in the same spots, just somewhere where she knows I will step in it! LOL! She doesn't need to be scolded or punished, she knows that she pooped inside and it's wrong. As soon as she does, her head goes down and she goes directly into her crate. She will even go as far as to turn around in there and face the wall. I instantly know something is up and go sniffing to see what she "did" in the house. And then when I find it, all I have to do is look at her and shake my head like I am disappointed. And actually she is a lot better this week. No more accidents and she is walking great on her leash now. I grabbed a cheapy halter from Wal Mart the other day on a whim and it works like mad! We are enjoying the walks again! Woohoo! SO hopefully it was just a faze she was going through. Vet tomorrow for her nails, so I will ask then for him to have a check on her to be sure.

I was looking for it too Patti!!!! The only thing I could think of, is someone is posting a recipe, and it's sitting on the Preview page. LOL I was going to post this tasty veggie dip. We had it at a friend's barbecue a couple of weeks ago, and she gave me the recipe this morning. It has curry in, so if you like curry, and we do, you'll love it. I'm going to add some chopped lovage when I make it. Curry Vegetable Dip 1 cup mayonnaise 1 tsp horseradish 1 tsp dry mustard 1 tsp curry powder 1 tbsp sour cream Yogurt, or yogurt blended with cream cheese can also be an option.

The memory card was blank? You didn't witness any transfering?

I have a question for all. Will magnets remove files?

Could you have placed your camera near a magnetic source.

wish I knew but would be quite disappointed about losing them...I look forward to downloading them like a kid in a candy store...Hope someone can help so it doesn't happen again...someone on that 'puter forum maybe able to help, ...I would post question there, too...

one possible reason:
you might have a corrupt file on the card and it isn't allowing for information to be stored correctly. Re-format the card in the camera.

Don't recall being anywhere near a magnet.
How could the card be corrupted?
I'm not sure that's it either, as I've since taken more shots and they've remained.

A file is possibly currupt, not the card.
The camera stores the files in folders for that day (my canon does at least). Maybe a file was currupt in that folder. I have a Canon PoS, I mean, P&S and it does this more than I care for. Not really a problem, just really annoying.

Did you remove the card, while the camera was on?

FYI, you can recover files from the drive, but the more pictures you take on that card, the harder it becomes to recover. It is writting over the previously stored information.

I still think you should reformat the card.

I just MAY have removed the card with the camera on...not sure.
As I download the pics to my laptop, I delete them off the card, so basically, the card is empty.
