Did a bad thing, need help

I dropped my camera this morning. It now has a shadow that moves from upper corner to upper corner. Pics below - one from yesterday, no shadow, the others, including of a white wall with the flash on, today.

What did I do? Can it be fixed? If so, any idea how much?

PS The shadow on the right of the first pic is a real shadow from a fence.

Lass, of course, I'm not recommending leaving roses in band pots for extended periods, but I must tell you about Etoile de Mai, a tiny band I bought from Ashdown last September. Due to one thing and another it stayed in the band on my patio, in the enclosed porch during the freezes and back on the patio getting water catch as catch can and getting smaller (it was minute when it arrived!) and smaller until it became one "cane" about 2" long. I thought sure I was killing this rose that I really wanted (and paid good money for). In early April when I dug my new Niles Cochet bed I planted it. Etoile de Mai is growing and has buds on it. What can I say? They're tough. But I did lose a mini this way but it didn't last anywhere near as long as EdM under similar abuse. Sherry

Lara, I had received a very young Multi-Blue clem in a trade last year. It arrived healthy looking but with only 2 thin short vines coming from the crown, I planted it deeply and it put out some new leaves within 2 weeks or so and then turned dark brown, crispy and for all purposes looked completely dead. I thought I would wait and see what happens becuase sometimes the clems will go dormant with top growth and then work on establishing themselves instead. The next thing I knew it was putting out new growth from the roots. I pinched these back to keep it working on establishing itself. This spring I have many new vines from it and I am anxiously awaiting blooms. So don't yank it yet. Your roots sound healthy. I agree with Ophelia and please follow Nckvilledude's advice and keep her watered and fertilized. Some use rose fertilizer, I use compost or manure. Good luck and let us know what happens. Tracy

Hi Everyone! This has been my first chance to log on since that day. Thank you all for your kind words..it really does help. Here is the update on the naughty tree. That night my DH and I went to Lowes and bought a second stand, this one doesn't pivot so you have to be pretty darn good at getting it straight the first time BUT it came with 8 screw "thingees"...bi leveling so if the trunk is crooked the 8 will get it at both levels. It seems to be working. I got up at 4am on Thurs to re-decorate with the remaining ornaments and I have to say it looks better the second time around! Funny thing it took me another 4 hours to redo it. As for hubby and I going to store for app's for the party, that didn't transpire since he worked right up til the start of the party on Friday evening. So on Thurs am I went to the grocery store for the fixings and of course there was a HUGE storm coming early that afternoon and that is also the day grocery stores change sales...so it was crowded with people buying food as thought we would be socked in for years by snow and the thursday die hard shoppers..what a mess! To top it off I had a ladies luncheon to attend late morning to early afternoon. That part was fun! Friday was utter chaos. NO help from DH, kids were in school, so no help there. When the final hours came around, stuff was shoved here there and everywhere, but the house "looked" clean and the food was good. Some people didn't show so we had lots of leftovers. The rest of the weekend was dedicated to cleaning up. My feet were killing me and I am so happy to be back at work sitting on my tush for 8 hours. You said it. I do know productive members of society who smoke, and I know others who abuse their bodies with food, abuse their minds with television. It's not the guns killing people, it's the people killing people. That said, perhaps that is his one vice? If he works as hard as she says he does, he must need some time to relax. Also, is he a homeowner? I thought it was the OP's house. If it is, then expecting him to contribute and feel equal may be difficult. Have you tried interesting him in exercise? That gives a great natural high. Does he have hobbies you could share? If you're really not interested in being with him because he smokes, yet you knew he smoked, did not ever own a home, etc... prior to getting married, you set yourself up for failure. Don't blame him for your inability to change him. You married a bachelor who has the social and homemaking skills of a college student (no offense to college students!) He doesn't want to grow up. You already have. Invite him to grow up with you, or get out. You deserve more, and your kids deserve more. By the way, don't ever assume kids don't know what's going on. They will find out sooner or later, and you will have to reconcile the "don't do as I do (or DH does) but do as I say" and we know that never works. I'm sorry, but you said to be frank. Looks like your sensor moved. Unfotunately, the KM digital camera division is no longer around. Sony bought it.

Contact your local camera store and see how much it will cost. It might not be worth the $$. Sorry.

Those were kind of my hunches too, Joe. I was hoping some one might save me from myself! Well, I'll run it by our local camera shop. I am betting put it to rest with the estimated cost of repair.

It was so bad, I was thinking "I need to put that strap _around_ something..." just as the whole shebang slipped out of my hand.

Of course, it was almost three years old so its not like it was a high dollar loss. Still perturbed at myself.

Sorry about your camera problem.
I dropped my Konica Minolta Dimage Z1 in December....fortunately it still works but the battery case doesn't close completely. I sorta wish it would have really broken because I have never been really happy with it.
Hope yours can be repaired reasonably.....let us know what you decide to do.

Well, my local camera shop says: "Yep, needs to be sent off, probably be about $200." Don't know if that is accurate or just a way to get rid of the job they don't have any real interest in.

Anyone know of a good place to send it for repair.

No warranty is involved. Just need a repair shop to give me a close estimate to see if its worth repair.

That's too bad! ... it can happen to all of us, I know how you feel, hopefully you get over soon!
Nevertheless, lovely pictures!....In the first picture, is that a cherry tree?

That's a young plum tree Konrad. This will be its third season. I am hoping to see how its fruit tastes this year, but, its still another month to our average last freeze date, so I'm afraid it will get frozen.

Well, as kind of a public service announcement, there is good news on the camera front. Apparently it realingns itself. I turned if off and on probably a dozen times yesterday after the drop, and it kept having the shadow. But, gave it a try to get a little shot that popped up a little before sunrise this morning, and had this result

Still a little shadow in the far upprer corner, but not too bad. It may never be quite the same, but, I think it will be ok if it keeps going like that. (And, fwiw, the jet contrail was even a more vivid red to the naked eye.)

I'm so sorry about your camera. Please keep trying to correct the problem and of course maybe a camera shop can take a look, it may not cost nearly what you would think. Call them first and see what they say.
