Photoshow info

I want to make a photo show for my grandson's graduation. I do not have a program yet to do this. I know there are some out there that are online.

Do any of you have a program that one can buy that is quite simple but good? I want to be able to transfer it to a DVD.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I use Roxio, Nero is almost the same. I bought mine for $50 on sale. It makes a nice slideshow on DVD with pan&zoom motion for that real movie feel and you can easily add your music background. You can combine video with stlls, put multiple productions on one disc and other features. It is also video editing software and music burning software.

I have looked at Roxio. Can you buy the program somewhere? Online they want $40 per year to use it. A friend uses it but got it awhile ago and she doesn't pay by the year and she uses it online. I like the program but at that price it is expensive. I would just as soon have the program and install it myself.

Juliet.... Neal Berrey is Stunning! It's scape height is perfect, the book says 18 inches...no way.... mine is at least 24 inches on the shortest scape I measured this morning and 28 inches on the tallest. In a clump it is just flat out gorgeous! The colours are so clean and pure. It polys often, just adding more beauty to it, if that is possible. The substance is wonderful and the soft folding edges make it appear to be sculpted. The foliage is alway clean and a very nice dark green. It is also low , making the scapes appear even taller. When it is in mass bloom more folks stop and look at it and go "Wow" then on almost any other clump I have. It is surrounded by much newer, more expensive,Tet's...no matter...it still draws your eye, right to it. It is fairly long blooming and has a decent bud count. IMHO...it just grabs you, when you walk by a clump of it. It is just "PURDY"! what can I say............... Rick

You ALL are totally awesome for helping (sorry if I sound like a teenager!) Great ideas and advice. You all are so right about the paint color--I can see it now. Thanks for taking the time to show me examples! (The existing paint is actually more of a gold- but looks yellow in certain spots and colors). I love those examples of the darker red backsplashes, boxerpups, with cabinets similar in color to mine. Red wouldn't match anything in my house, (I know you weren't suggesting that)but maybe a burgandy or maroon or rust would! Noobee- I can't get over how that darker backsplash you did (in the cut and paste you did over my kitchen photo) makes the cabinets and granite pop and ties it all together. I love it! I think that seems to be heading in the right direction--though perhaps the exact colors and pattern need tweaking. I love the look! Though there isn't any actual brown in the granite, some of the garnet does appear brown-here and there. Do you think I'd need to have gray in the backsplash to tie in with the granite if I went darker, with mixed colors, like that? Also, Noobee, how DID you do that cut and paste-is that a paint program that comes with windows or adobe photoshop by any chance? I'd love to try and play with that myself. I have been visiting a few tile shops, and even the salespeople there have been having a hard time finding the right solution for me. One lady who was working with me is even a trained interior designer. She was thinking darker would work, too, but was having a hard time finding just the right tile. So I really appreciate your suggestions.

I am using Photostory on CD & DVD and LOVE it sooooo much, I am in my glory! The only problem is, is instead of a book you can read, everything (manuals & help) now a days is electronic so I have my eye on getting a laptop so I can relax in the easy chair to read instructions and hints on how to use everything. I was printing out stuff but that was hard on the pocketbook. (ink/paper) I started using movie maker but found better easier options on Photo Story 2004 which I only paid $18.97 for then being that was an older version, I decided to get the newest one from BestBuy that was $19.99- $$25.54 w/tax,shipping on the net.

Oh, Klinger !! This is just fantastic ! My eyes would just go blind staring at this all day long. I love Oceana too, I got the box of dirty scraps off ebay too, then when I went to Youghiogheny I saw them making it. Oh la la. That is a great place to shop. Got all of this for $42.00 there are a few full sheets of Oceana there.. Anywho.. I just love love love the backsplash !!

You can buy Roxio Creator suite 10, at best buy,circuit city,etc...., sams club has it cheap sometimes. It is on sale often for under $75.....it is not a subscription service, just a onetime purchase.

Hey C Bump....I use photostory for emailing slideshows, it is nice....I have roxio so I have never made a photostory for dvd.......how does that look on your TV, pretty good? I have put them on my Ipod Touch, they look great. Photostory is so simple to use(and free!), I like it.

They looked and played great!! The video of the baby was for my best friend daughter...pictures I took at the hospital when her 1st baby was born. (Guess I'll be doing another one of those, because baby #2 is to be delivered next Tues.) The Memorial video..also for my best friend was made last March when her BIL died. He was cremated, but they had a Memorial get-together at their house). They played the video and everyone loved it!

The last video I didn't really work on much. Only reason I did it was to be able to share the song with some online friends. I lost my husband in June (2008) and the girl singing is (again) my best friends daughter!*S*

Is Roxio creator suite 10 similar to what my friend has which is version #5. she has a couple of updates also. I just made one the trial but of course couldn't do all the things we did on hers. I won't be doing a lot of them but want to make one for my grandson's graduation as he is the last one.

Roxio 5 offered a CD slideshow that you could add music too. Roxio 10 offers DVD slideshow options that include pan&zoom or what has been referred to as the Ken Burns effect. It is also bundled with sound editing and burning software all of which I use. You may want to experiment with Photostory if you do not plan to use the entire bundle.
