As of now, between my row of freestanding trees and espiliars, I am planing on planting about 10 disease resistant/ low spray verieties that are recommended for home growers, like redfree/jonafree/liberty/enterprise/goldrush. I will also plant about 14 favorates of fellow forum members, which would ideally be best quality, taste, and potential commercial value. I am buying trees from a nursery in the spring. What varieties are better for espiliar, why?

Beachplant, Here In The Florida heat that grows And perform very well for me are the Following. Angel's moonlight will Bloom constantly In the heat. I Have not seen a single day on angel's moonlight with out Blooms.This Is one Brug that do not wilt in the Heat. Also new Orleans Lady will be a good one as well. Doosie is another one that will perform In the heat and does not wilt. Pink perfection is another double that Blooms And Blooms very well all summer. Pink Smitty performs well. These are just a few that I Have had a Chance to evaluate this Summer and They have earn a permanent Spot in My Garden. Fruit splitting of Meyers is normally due to not enough water, or uneven watering... too dry, too wet, too dry. A deficiency of Calcium can also contribute to the problem. In addition to dropping leaves due to significant light changes, a Meyer will also drop leaves if you let it get too dry and then water it. I would suspect with the setup you have that there is a definite lack of humidity. Misting a couple of times per day would help; and pictures always help to get a better answer.

Actinic lights are primarily for aesthetic appeal on aquariums. They are not an efficient source of light for plants, and have virtually no red light, so I would avoid them. The 6500K bulbs are ideal, and the 10000K bulbs should also work pretty well. I would consider these options: 1) Stick with what you have. 2) Use the 10000K VHO's, but not the actinics. 3) Combine the above two options. 4) Use the MH's, provided they are not overly blue bulbs like 20000K's or something. If the plants are still fairly small and you can position them all within six inches or so of the bulbs, then one of the first two options should work. If you need more light, I'd consider one of the last two options.
