We got a couple of inches overnight too, but we also have the warmer temps forecast for Friday. So i guess this isn't quite permanent yet. Won't be too long from now, though. Twenty-five years ago on this day, we had just had our first big snowfall of the year, and dh had worked overtime plowing the highway. I was extremely pg, and the joke had been that i'd go into labour during the first snowstorm of the year. Guess what! LOL My daughter was born that evening. :)

The snow was gone here a couple weeks ago and thank goodness for this weather so far! After the past couple years (and even last month) where we've had below normal winter and spring temps, it's a nice break. You can thank a positive NAO (North Atlantic Oscillation) and a neutral to slightly positive Pacific Oscillation for that. We had gotten so accustomed to teens and twenties for highs every winter for weeks at a time and being pushed to consider that "normal" (which it isn't, at least here in SE PA), that what we are experiencing now seems "mild" and in reality, it's closer to "normal" and what the temps should be (highs mid - upper 30s and lows in the mid 20s for the coldest month of January). Since the beginning of December, I have watched below normal weather here in the east being idiotically cheered on by several commercial weather forecasters (some who finally admitted that they were "snow lovers" after weeks on end threatening that winter is coming... winter is coming.... look out.... And even concocting hypothetical graphical scenarios illustrating what would need to occur to theoretically produce even more severely below normal cold weather), while those same ones cheered on the above-normal temps elsewhere across the U.S. But god forbid, let us struggle to normal and slightly above and they get their panties in a twist. Meanwhile out west, temps are some 30 degrees above normal. :-\ Sorry for the weather rant...but I've been wanting to get that out. ;-) beanmomma - if you can remember the winter of 2001 - 2002, you might be able to predict whether your plants will come out of dormancy too soon. I have a couple new potted shrubs and a new containered tree (a plum that only needs 250 chill hours which I'm sure has gotten that by now) that I am watching too. Right now it seems that the temp range has been perfect for "chill hour" accumulation. But I think as long as we do hit or go below freezing at night, I expect the plants will hang on in dormancy awhile longer. Crossing fingers that we can make it through this month like this and squeak through February the same way, then we should be pretty much on our way to spring! :-)

Hi, OP here though I haven't been on this thread in several years... safemommy, I just measured my top and bottom freezer drawers, and 13.5" is exactly how far my drawers extend. I've removed the ice cube tray with that extension, but I don't think I've ever tried to remove the entire compartment. Paula Piekos, about three years after I got the replacement unit, my center rubber seals split, but I was able to get an authorized repairman to order and replace the seals, I did not have to order a whole new door. I am talking though only about the middle whether the two doors come together, not the ones that go all around perimeter where the door seals against the body. But I do vaguely recall that parts and labor for that came out to about $350, wasn't cheap. The new ones have been on for about seven years now, and are starting to split in one place - I try to wipe down the contact areas on the seals to reduce friction to keep them longer. When the repairman came, I was going to try to observe how he replaced those center seals, so I could do it myself next time, but I got distracted. I know they simply slide on and off; however, there's one or two hard plastic parts that he removed to get access. Thankfully I've had no major problem with the replacement fridge over 10 years. Occasionally the upper freezer drawer would mysteriously ice up and be hard to open/close; turns out if the ice scoop handle sticks up too much it prevents the drawer from being fully closed. The small fan at the bottom of the unit, behind the screwed on grill, got out of balance and off-center, and started to make horrible screeching, and took two repair visits to replace the fan and motor. But otherwise has worked reliably....

While lots of ventilation might reduce amount of condensation,that doesn't cure the underlying problem. The bad news is that's the worst I've seen. The good news is that since it's so bad it will be easier to find the source of warm air. My advice is to write down as best you can recall,all conversation with builder and include documents,texts and pictures. Put the builder on notice he has 10 days to bring in an outside specialist (preferably of your choosing) at his expense to locate the source of warm air. If builder refuse's an outside specialist,I would hire a specialict and sue the builder. Possible specialists are utility company energy auditors and energy raters. If you insist on having people guess at this on the net,my guess's are laundry dryer,one huge or several leaks in heating ducts,malfunctioning whole house humidifier,1 huge or several air exchanges between living area and attic. There are tests to find this,it's insanely foolish to dink around guessing at it.
